About the Centre
A Legacy of Wellness &
Mindful Living
The Prof. Subbiah Yoga Centre at KSG College of Arts and Science is a pioneering initiative dedicated to promoting holistic wellness among students and faculty. Named in honour of the distinguished yoga practitioner and educator, the centre embodies the belief that physical vitality and mental clarity are inseparable from academic excellence.
Since its inception, the centre has conducted over 15 structured yoga programmes, trained more than 1,000 students annually, and spearheaded the nationally recognised Harit Yoga movement — an innovative programme that combines traditional yoga practice with environmental stewardship through mass tree-planting drives.
Every year, the centre organises a grand International Yoga Day celebrationfeaturing mass demonstrations, expert workshops, and inter-departmental competitions that bring the entire college community together in the pursuit of wellness.
Our Programmes
Pathways to Wellness
From daily asana practice to environmental activism, our programmes nurture every dimension of student wellbeing
Daily Yoga Practice
Begin every morning with guided Surya Namaskar, Pranayama, and asana sequences. Open to all students, these 45-minute sessions cultivate discipline, energy, and focus before the academic day begins.
Meditation & Mindfulness
Structured meditation workshops teach Vipassana, guided visualization, and breath-awareness techniques. Students report improved concentration, reduced exam anxiety, and better emotional resilience.
Therapeutic Yoga
Specialized sessions for posture correction, back pain relief, and stress-related disorders. Faculty yoga therapists design personalized routines for students with health considerations.
Pranayama & Breathwork
Advanced breathing techniques including Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, and Bhramari Pranayama. These sessions strengthen the respiratory system and calm the nervous system.
Harit Yoga (Green Yoga)
A signature initiative blending yoga with environmental action. Students plant trees, practice outdoor yoga in nature, and learn eco-consciousness as a spiritual discipline.
International Yoga Day
Grand annual celebrations on June 21 with mass yoga demonstrations, guest lectures by eminent yogis, inter-college competitions, and awareness campaigns reaching the wider community.
Our Philosophy
Education Beyond
the Classroom
Holistic Wellness
We believe true education nurtures the body, mind, and spirit equally. Yoga is not an extracurricular — it is integral to the KSG experience.
Ancient Wisdom, Modern Practice
Our curriculum draws from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras while incorporating contemporary sports science and physiotherapy principles.
Community & Compassion
Through Harit Yoga and community outreach, students learn that wellness extends beyond the self — to nature, society, and the planet.

Harit Yoga —
Nurturing Nature Through Mindful Movement
Harit Yoga is KSG College's pioneering programme that unites the discipline of yoga with environmental activism. Students begin with grounding meditation, proceed through traditional asana sequences outdoors, and conclude each session by planting saplings on campus.
Conducted in collaboration with H2O Movement and PACT (Par Anand Charitable Trust), Harit Yoga has enabled the plantation of over 5,000 trees on campus, transforming KSG into one of the greenest college campuses in the region.
